Madison police warn nationwide email bomb threat is a hoax

Madison police are the latest law enforcement agency nationwide that has received a calls today regarding an emailed bomb scare scam.

It appears criminals are sending similar emails to businesses and schools across the country, according to a Madison police incident report.

The emails contain a narrative where people are being told there is an explosive device in their building, and that to stop any possible detonation they need transfer Bitcoin funds to a designated address.

Anyone getting one of these emails, can delete it. This is a scam, police say.
