Alabama Suspends 3 Players Ahead of Orange Bowl For Violating Team Rules

coach suspends three players ahead of orange bowl

Top-ranked Alabama has suspended three of their players ahead of Saturday's Orange Bowl Coach Nick Saban announced Monday night.

The game between Alabama and No. 4-ranked Oklahoma won't feature offensive guard Deonte Brown, reserve tight end Kedrick James and offensive lineman Elliot Baker "due to a violation of team rules and policies."

Brown started in five games for Alabama this year and played in 12 of the 13 games this season. James has played in five games, while offensive lineman Elliot Baker has not seen any game time.

Alabama is scheduled to take on Oklahoma Saturday night at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens for one of the College Football Playoff semifinals. No. 2 ranked Clemson will face No. 3 Notre Dame in the Cotton Bowl for the other semi-final.

The team didn't say how long the three players would be suspended or whether the suspensions might extend to the national championship game if Alabama wins on Saturday.
