Power outages surge in southern Wisconsin as temperatures drop

UPDATE (WKOW) — Hundreds of customers are without power Wednesday morning as dangerously cold temperatures grasp southern Wisconsin.

Communities affected include Fitchburg, Mineral Point and Boscobel.

UPDATE (WKOW) — Power has been restored to hundreds of people after brief outage in -20 degree weather.

(WKOW) — Customers across southern Wisconsin are without power as temperatures fall dangerously low Wednesday morning.

At 3:30 a.m. MG&E reported 400 customers were affected on Madison’s east side. Alliant Energy said more than 800 customers were experiencing an outage in Janesville.

Crews are responding to fix the problems. Power is expected to be back at about 5 a.m. Wednesday.
