Lyft driver arrested for suspected sexual assault in Madison

MADISON (WKOW) — A Lyft driver was arrested early Sunday for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman whom he had just given a ride.

Hassen Ahmed, 28, of Madison, gave a ride to a woman through the popular ride sharing app Lyft early Sunday morning, according to a Madison police incident report.

After taking the woman to her Langdon Street apartment, Ahmed claimed he needed to use the bathroom and entered the woman’s unit, police said.

After the assault, the woman called the Madison Police Department just before 2 a.m. “and provided information that led to the suspect being located and arrested after a traffic stop,” the release said.

Ahmed faces two charges of second-degree sexual assault, according to police.
