Milwaukee police officer shot and killed while executing search warrant

MILWAUKEE — A Milwaukee tactical officer died Wednesday morning at Froedtert Hospital after being shot while executing a search warrant on the city’s south side, a source told WISN 12 NEWS.

One suspect was taken into custody.

First responders were called to the area of South 12th and West Manitoba streets shortly after 9 a.m. They included Milwaukee firefighters and officers from the Marquette University Police Department.

Mayor Tom Barrett and police Chief Alfonso Morales were also spotted on the scene.

A medical examiner was not called, WISN 12 NEWS has confirmed.

Nearby Zablocki Public School, located at 016 W Oklahoma Ave., was put in “code yellow” status, which means officials limit who goes in and out.
