Troubled Sun Prairie assisted living facility closes its doors

A Sun Prairie assisted living facility at the center of a lawsuit has closed its doors.

The Wisconsin Department of Health Services says the owner of Faith Gardens gave up her license to operate as part of a settlement with the state. The assisted living facility closed January 14.

In December of 2017, 84-year-old Alice McGaw was found dead outside the center. Authorities say McGaw had dementia and wandered outside the facility through a door that had been propped open. McGaw’s family has filed a lawsuit against Faith Gardens.
