Third snowiest start to the year on record in southern Wisconsin

MADISON (WKOW) – We’ve only had two dry days this month and all that snow adds up.

Since the beginning of January, Madison has received an impressive 38.9 inches of snow. That’s more than 18 inches above average for this eight week stretch!

Through this date in 2008, we had a massive 51.7 inches of snow. That entire year ended up being the snowiest ever recorded with 111 inches! In second place through this date in 1898, we had 48 inches.
