Deputy shot in Rockford has died

The deputy shot this morning in Rockford has died, according to the Illinois State Police.

UPDATE (WKOW) — The man wanted in the shooting this morning in Rockford of a member of a U.S. Marshall’s task force is currently in a standoff with law enforcement in central Illinois.

The officer, a member of the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, currently is in critical condition, police said during a news conference this afternoon.

Members of the task force were attempting to serve an arrest warrant at the Extended Stay in Rockford when the subject began shooting, and then fled.

After the subject fled, a woman was found in the room. She suffered gunshot wounds, however police did not shoot any rounds during the incident, police said.

The suspect, Floyd Brown currently is in a standoff with law enforcement along I-55 in Logan County.
