10 people taken to the hospital after semi crashes into SUV in Green Co.

UPDATE (WKOW) — 10 people were taken to the hospital after a crash near Monticello and New Glarus Friday morning.

According to the Green County Sheriff’s department, an SUV was driving northbound on WIS-69, when deer ran onto the road. The SUV slowed down for them to cross. While it was slowed down, a semi-truck hit the SUV from behind.

Nine people were in the SUV at the time of the crash. They were all taken to the hospital with “a variety of injuries.” The semi-driver has only has minor injuries.

The sheriff’s department said they expect WIS-69 near Hefty Road to be closed for several more hours.

MONTICELLO (WKOW) — All lanes on WIS-69 near Hefty Road are closed due an accident.

According to WisDOT, it happened around 5:45 a.m. Friday.

Officials advise taking an alternate route. They suggest taking CTH C to CTH CC to CTH W back to STH 69.

If you’re heading southbound, take CTH H to CTH N to CTH C back to STH 69.
