Police on scene of barricaded subject in town of Beloit

Police say the suspect arrested Tuesday is a fugitive from Colorado.

The Town of Beloit Police Department says Walter Kolak, 52, was wanted on felony warrants for failing to appear for a court appearance, menacing real/simulated weapons and weapons possession.

Kolak will also face local charges for a fugitive complaint, failure to comply with law enforcement, being a felon in possession of a firearm and possession of THC.

UPDATE — A suspect is now in custody following an incident Tuesday afternoon in the town of Beloit.

Town of Beloit Police currently are responding to the scene of a barricaded subject in the 1900 block of Dewey Avenue.

Police are asking people to stay clear of the area.

Nearby Merrill Elementary School in Beloit is on lockdown for after school programs as of 4:15 p.m., according the School District of Beloit.

City of Beloit police say it isnot related to the homicide last night.
