Judge blocks GOP's lame-duck laws in Wisconsin

Dane County Circuit Judge Richard Niess has issued an injunction, temporarily blocking lame duck legislation passed by the GOP controlled legislature in an extraordinary session in December. The laws limit some of the powers of Governor Tony Evers and Attorney General Josh Kaul. The legislature had requested Judge Niess put the order on hold, which was refused.

A coalition of liberal-leaning groups filed a lawsuit in January arguing such sessions are illegal.
