Sheriff: Jake Patterson moved to Dunn Co. Jail until sentencing

After pleading guilty to the murders of Jim and Denise Closs and the kidnapping of their daughter Jayme, Jake Patterson will await his sentencing in a different county.

Barron County Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald tells News 18 that Patterson will be housed in the Dunn County Jail until his sentencing May 24.

Patterson had been housed in the Polk County Jail since January. Sheriff Fitzgerald said he was transferred to Dunn County following Wednesday’s hearing. Sheriff Fitzgerald called it an ‘administrative decision’ and said there were no other issues or threats that prompted Patterson’s move.

Sheriff Fitzgerald said the move is another example of local counties working together.

At his sentencing hearing, Patterson will face life sentences on two counts of first degree intentional homicide and an additional 40 years after pleading guilty of kidnapping.
