Sheriff: Town of Westport burglary could be connected to others

The Dane County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a burglary at a convenience store that’s similar to other recent incidents, where someone tried to steal an ATM.

The sheriff’s office says deputies responded to the Kwik Trip on Willow Road in the Town of Westport around 4 a.m. Wednesday. Their investigation shows two people broke out a window of the business and tried to remove the ATM.

The burglars were not able to get the ATM out. They left in a vehicle before deputies got there.

The sheriff’s office is working with the county-wide Burglary Crime Unit, saying they believe this crime is connected to other similar incidents.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Dane County tip line at (608) 284-6900.
