Police arrest man suspected in string of burglaries

UPDATE (WKOW) — Madison police on Friday arrested a man wanted in connection with a string of burglaries downtown.

An officer stopped Carlo D. Walkes, 32, while he was riding a bicycle – also believed to be a stolen – on College Court as they were responding to another burglary to an underground parking garage.

Walkes had a pry tool and a hunting knife in his pockets as well as numerous pieces of shattered glass, according to Madison police incident report.

He was in possession of a cell phone, which is not his, as well as a perfume bottle and lots of change, according to police.

Walkes currently is being held on a probation hold.

MADISON (WKOW) — The Burglary Crimes Unit is seeking residents’ help in locating a burglary suspect who has a long history of criminal behavior.

Carlo D. Walkes, 32, is wanted for breaking out the window of a car early Wednesday.

The car was parked in an underground lot on north Park St.

There is also an active probation warrant out for his arrest.

Walkes is a person of interest in several recent burglaries and thefts that have taken place in the W. Washington Avenue and Park Street corridors.
