Evers signs first bill as Wisconsin governor

Governor Tony Evers signed his first bill into law Tuesday. The measure enacts a proposal banning the term “mental retardation” from state agency rules and regulations.

Abigail Kaiser, a Madison high school student who has Down Syndrome, attended the signing ceremony and introduced Evers. Kaiser says the law change is important because she doesn’t like to be treated differently.
