Republican Lawmakers: Most of Governor Evers' Budget Won't Happen

(Madison, WI) -- Republicans in Madison say there will be no medical marijuana, no Medicaid expansion, and no minimum wage increase in their state budget. Lawmakers yesterday said they plan to scrap most of the governor's proposed budget. Republicans control the legislature, but it's unclear how the governor could veto their plan. The only part of the governor's spending plan that Republicans are keeping is the proposal to raise the gas tax in Wisconsin.
