Burglar enters Madison home with family inside, police say

A man told police a stranger entered his house Saturday night and stole car and house keys while he and his family were home.

The man said he left his garage door open and the door into his Golden Maple Road house unlocked because he was expecting a visit from family that night, according to a Madison Police Department incident report.

He heard the door to his garage open and the man called out a welcome, police said. When he didn’t get a response, the man looked and saw a stranger standing inside his house.
