Dear Spring Harbor Families,
I am writing to inform you of a serious incident that was reported in one of our classrooms today. The incident involves a staff member allegedly using a racial slur in front of several students. As soon as we were informed of this, the teacher was removed from class and we began investigating. Immediate and appropriate action will be taken pending the outcome of the investigation.
We are also working hard to support our students to ensure they feel safe and supported. No matter the context or the circumstance, use of racial slurs is unacceptable in our schools and throughout our community. I sincerely do not believe this represents the safe and inclusive community that we have created at our school.
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out.
Sincerely,
Pam Waite
Principal
