Dog walker credited with thwarting random attack in Madison Park

A man out walking his dog in Brittingham Park Saturday subdued a man who police say had randomly attacked a couple who had been visiting the park.

Gary D Troutman Jr., 58, No Permanent Address, faces charges of battery, disorderly conduct, and aggravated battery against an elderly person.

It was about 10:30 a.m. when the dog walker, 31, says he saw Troutman shouting at a 69-year-old man, who was visiting from Iron River, Michigan, and the man’s female companion, a 66-year-old Madison resident.
