Multiple fights on State Street in Madison

MADISON (WKOW) —  According toMadison Police Chief Koval’s Blog, several fights occurred in and around the State street and Gilman street area after bar time on Sunday morning

Koval’s blogsaid officers on patrol around State and Gilman streets at 2:07 a.m. saw a 22-year-old woman about to fight another woman.

Officers broke up the fight, but the 22-year-old woman resisted arrest. When the woman was finally arrested, she was searched and officers found THC on her.

Police said the woman was cited and released due to a number of other calls waiting and hostile behavior occurring within the crowd.

According toKoval’s Blog, while at the scene, officials came across another fight involving four people.

Officers tried to diffuse the fight, but the four people continued to fight with each other, resulting in officers using pepper spray.

Koval’s Blogsays one of the sprayed suspects fled, but two sprayed suspects, a 23-year-old man and 20-year-old man, were detained.

Police say the 20-year-old suspect was cited for resisting and was seen by the Madison Fire Department for medical clearance.

The 23-year-old suspect continued to be uncooperative and aggressive, and after being medically cleared, was arrested and transported to jail, facing charges of disorderly conduct and resisting.
