Plane with engine trouble goes down in field near Fort Atkinson airport

The pilot of a plane that went down Monday near the Fort Atkinson Municipal Airport was unhurt, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff.

Deputies responded to a report about noon Aug. 19 of a single plane crash just north of the Fort Atkinson Municipal Airport.

Upon arriving on scene, deputies were able to speak to the pilot who was uninjured and was the only occupant of the plane, according to a news release.

The pilot told deputies that when he took off, the plane had engine failure and he was trying to return to the airport.

He couldn’t make it back, however and landed the plane in a field.

The FAA was contacted and the incident will be turned over to them.
