Chicago man charged in Madison homicide held on $1 million bond

The Chicago man charged in the death of a woman Aug. 23 in Madison had a bond set of $1 million during a court hearing today.

Lew A. Jefferson, 58, was charged during an initial appearance with one count of first-degree intentional homicide.

Jefferson was booked into the Dane County Jail Saturday morning.

Amanda Woods, 30, Madison, was found stabbed to death in a grassy area near Darbo Drive early Friday morning.

Her death was Madison’s first homicide of 2019.
