Sun Prairie anti-bullying ordinance passed by City Council

SUN PRAIRIE (WKOW/WIBA) — The Sun Prairie City Council has approved an anti-bullying ordinance.

The vote came down Tuesday night, with Mayor Paul Esser breaking the tie 4-4 vote. Esser tells Madison in the Morning that the ordinance gives the police department a basis to work with parents, and warn them, but then have the capability to give tickets if the situation is ignored.

Community members hope the ordinance will curb bullying by fining parents of children who are involved in repeated cases of bullying.
