Columbia County shooting death now considered a homicide

LEEDS (WKOW) — Authorities in Columbia County are investigating the death of a man who was shot in his home as a homicide.

Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim as Keith R. Wolf, 35, of rural Poynette. He died of a gunshot wound. Authorities say the results of the autopsy have led them to investigate the death as a homicide.

Columbia County sheriff’s officials say a woman called 911 shortly before 9:30 p.m. Friday, September 27, sayingher husband had been shot. Deputies and EMS crews were sent to the home on Bradley Road and found the man in the basement. The wife and a small child were hiding in another room, unhurt. His wife told dispatchers he had gone into the basement because he thought someone was in their house.

Sheriff’s office detectives and special agents from Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation are actively investigating this case.
