Officials identify man killed in pond crash near Marshall

UPDATE (WKOW) — The Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office released the name of the man who died after his vehicle crashed and ended up in the Marshall Millpond in the town of Medina.

He is Antonio Turrubaiarates Cuellar, 22, of Marshall.

A report from the medical examiner’s office said preliminary results from the forensic examination show Turrubaiarates Cuellar died of injuries sustained in the crash.

TOWN OF MEDINA (WKOW) — A 22-year-old man died in a crash discovered Tuesday where his vehicle crashed and ended up in the Marshall Millpond in the town of Medina.

Dane County Sheriff’s deputies were called about 7 p.m. Oct. 1 to a report of a vehicle found in two pieces in the pond near Lochinvars Trail and State Highway 19.

The Dane County Sheriff’s Office said the man was found deceased inside the vehicle.

Investigators believe the man was traveling eastbound on Highway 19 at a high rate of speed, failed to negotiate a curve and struck a tree.

The impact was so extreme, it broke the 2017 Chevrolet Cruze in half, sending the pieces into the water.

Investigators believe the crash occurred in the early morning hours of October 1.

The identity of the driver will be released by the Dane County Medical Examiner following an autopsy and notification to the family.
