Convicted sex offender to be placed in home near Stoughton

DANE COUNY (WKOW) — Christopher Melendrez, a convicted sex offender will be released to a home on Pleasant Hill Road in the town of Dunkirk, the Dane County Sheriff’s Office announced.

Officials will hold a community notification meeting on Monday, Oct. 7 at 5:30 pm. The meeting will be held at the Dunkirk Town Hall, 654 County Highway N, Stoughton WI.

Interested town of Dunkirk and the city of Stoughton residents are asked to attend.

Melendrez was convicted in 2001 of one count of third degree sexual assault. He is a lifetime registrant of the Wisconsin Sex Offender Registration Program.

Authorities will also provide citizens with information about protective behaviors and personal safety.

Melendrez is not wanted at this time, and this information is not intended to increase fear, but rather inform the public, according to the sheriff’s office.

Citizen abuse of this information to threaten, intimidate, or harass registered sex offenders will not be tolerated.
