Remains of missing Wisconsin brother possibly found in Nebraska

A rancher may have found the remains of one of the missing Wisconsin brothers last seen in Missouri.

A Hershey, Nebraska, rancher contacted authorities to say he found human remains inside a stock trailer he bought in Missouri, according to a Facebook post from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Monday.

“Upon examination, Deputies confirmed the remains were definitely human and noticed personal items in the tub,” the sheriff’s office said.

The Shawano County brothers, Nick and Justin Diemel, disappeared July 21 after visiting a farm in Missouri as part of their livestock business.

Deputies contacted the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office in Missouri, which is heading up the homicide investigation. Authorities confirmed the remains could belong to one of the brothers.

Garland “Joey” Nelson is charged in connection to the brothers’ disappearance.

“Caldwell County Investigators and Missouri State Police flew into Lincoln County later in the evening and picked up the remains,” the post concluded. “The investigation is ongoing.”
