Suspect runs from officers after Madison traffic stop

DANE COUNTY (WKOW) — Police from Fitchburg and Madison tracked down a suspect who ran from officers near John Nolen Drive and Rimrock Road early Tuesday morning, according to the Fitchburg Police Department.

Authorities told 27 News the incident started as a traffic stop at about 12:45 a.m.

When the driver slowed down, they exited the vehicle and ran away. The car was left in reverse and it crossed over all lanes of John Nolen Drive and stopped after hitting a curb.

Meanwhile, the driver ran into a marshy area. Multiple police departments responded. the suspect was arrested shortly after. A drone and a K-9 officer assisted with the search.

The driver was taken to the Dane County Jail for resisting a police officer.

The name of the suspect has not been released.
