Police search for couple suspected in Thursday morning car jacking

Officers say they identified the couple suspected in a Thursday morning carjacking.

“Detectives have identified those involved in this incident,” Madison police said in an update to an earlier incident report. “The investigation is ongoing.”

MADISON (WKOW) — A Waunakee man had his leg run over this morning during a carjacking on his way to work.

The man told police he had pulled over in the 1700 block of Manley Street in order to send and receive some texts.

That’s when a man with a knife opened the driver’s side door and threatened the victim.

Both ended up fighting outside of the SUV.

While this was happening, a woman – an accomplice of the armed man – got in the driver’s seat and hit the gas.

This caused the victim to fall to the ground, with a tire of his SUV rolling over his wrist and leg. The victim was not seriously injured and the armed man ran ahead, got in the SUV, and it took off.

An area resident heard the commotion and recorded some of the crime.

Anyone with information on the criminals is urged to contact Madison Area Crime Stoppers at (608) 266-6014.
