Two 13-year-olds arrested after BB gun found in a Madison middle school

Police officials say two 13-year-old boys were arrested Wednesday morning after a BB gun was found inside Jefferson Middle School, 101 S. Gammon Rd.

Authorities say one boy is accused of firing the weapon out of a bus window Tuesday afternoon,hitting a female student,who had just gotten off the bus on Kessel Court, was struck by a BB.

Police officials say school security staff intercepted the bus the suspect was riding on Wednesday as it arrived at the school. An MPD officer assisted in detaining the suspect. He has been arrested for second degree reckless endangering safety, and resisting.

Authorities say the BB gun was taken into the school by another student. Madison Police Spokesperson Joel DeSpain says officers found the BB gun in a school locker. The boy was arrested for possession of a weapon on school grounds.
