MADISON (WKOW) -- A man accused of a Christmas Eve Madison murder had his bail set at $1 million.

Joseph Green, 57, appeared in Dane County Court Friday on a charge of first-degree intentional homicide by use of a dangerous weapon, according to online court records. He's accused of shooting and killing his sister, Sheila M. Green, 63.

The criminal complaint says Sheila Green was shot 15 times. She had gunshot wounds to her head, neck, torso and arms.

The complaint also says Green called 911 on Christmas Eve and told dispatchers, "My sister needs an ambulance immediately." He then allegedly went back to his apartment, where he put the gun in a dumpster. Police arrested him shortly after that.

Dane County Court Commissioner Jason Hanson took the district attorney's office recommendation of setting bail at $1 million for Joseph Green Friday.

If he does post bail, Green must surrender his passport before release and then go immediately to Pretrial Services to be fitted for a tracking device. Hanson also ordered Green not to have dangerous weapons.

Green is next scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing on Jan. 2.
