Police arrest Madison teen for stealing $100,000 Porsche

- Madison police on Monday arrested a 16-year-old for stealing a $105,000 Porsche Panamera.

The owner started the car to let it warm up just after 3 p.m., but kept the fob in his pocket, according to a police incident report.

A witness saw the teen getting out of a silver car around the time the Porsche was stolen.

The owner and a friend used GPS to track down the car, which shut down without the fob at Winslow Lane and Seminole Highway.

The two arrived at the intersection along with the police and found two teens nearby. Close to the Porsche officers discovered a stolen Honda Fit which they believed to be the silver car the witness described earlier.

Authorities said they lacked probable cause to arrest the 15-year-old. However, the 16-year-old was taken to the Juvenile Reception Center for operating a motor vehicle without the owner's consent.

Police said an investigation into the Honda Fit is ongoing.
