Numbers from local hospitals show continued spike in flu cases

New numbers from UW Health and SSM Health show a continued spike in positive flu cases.

UW Health

At UW Health, there were 188 adult patients who tested positive for influenza and 125 pediatric patients who tested positive for influenza for the week of 2/17-2/23.

Here is more data from UW Health during this flu season (compared to 2018-2019).

UW Health adult influenza cases

2019-2020 influenza season (as of 2/23/20): 929 cases (93 hospitalized >24 hours)

2018-2019 influenza season (as of 2/23/19): 198 cases (25 hospitalized >24 hours)

UW Health pediatric influenza cases

2019-2020 influenza season (as of 2/23/20): 821 cases (28 hospitalized >24 hours)

2018-2019 influenza season (as of 2/23/19):  76 cases (4 hospitalized >24 hours)

SSM Health Dean Medical Group

1,184 positive cases since 1/1/2020. (This is not a breakdown of adults vs. pediatrics). That's compared to 113 positive cases during the same time frame from 2018-2019.
