Middleton-Cross Plains District to close Monday, March 16th

From Middleton-Cross Plains District:

All Middleton-Cross Plains Area Schools will be closed starting Monday, March 16.

There will be no classes the week of March 16-20 and spring break will follow March 23-27. The District has not yet determined whether courses will be online the week of March 30-April 3, Director of Communications Perry Hibner said.

Members of the District’s Pandemic Planning Team will be meeting over those two weeks to determine if training and planning for online instruction should take place starting March 30, Hibner said, adding the District will share more information once the plans are finalized.

The Wisconsin Department of Health Services, under the direction of Governor Evers, announced Friday the closure of all public and private Wisconsin schools for purposes of pupil instruction and extracurricular activities, beginning Wednesday, March 18 with an anticipated reopening on April 6. The date of reopening is subject to change pending further information. Schools had the option of closing earlier.

The District’s Pandemic Planning Team will continue to discuss getting meals to students, and making sure students have devices and internet access should MCPASD decide to go to an online model in April, Hibner said. More information will be sent soon regarding additional resources for families, he added.

"We certainly realize this has been an unprecedented and challenging time for our students, families and staff,'' Hibner said. "We know there will be more questions and uncertainty. We will keep everyone informed as we work to put the best plan in place for everyone.''
