MADISON (WKOW) -- SSM Health is now offering free evaluations for anyone who thinks they might have the new coronavirus.
The evaluation is available at:www.ssmhealth.com/covid19.
After you answer a series of questions, a doctor will contact you about whether you should be tested for the virus or whether you probably have something else.
Doctors hope the virtual evaluation will get treatment to those who need it more quickly.
"I know there's worry out there and a lot of things like general colds and general influenza. We want to make sure that we're testing the right people so that we can socially distance those people and contain the spread," said Dr. Mark Thompson, SSM Health WI Medical Groups President.
Typically, this type of virtual visit costs $25.
If you can't access the virtual evaluation, you can call the Dean on Call nurses line at 608-250-1393 or 1-800-576-8773 (outside of Madison) for a screening and any additional instructions.
