Town of Madison police are asking for the public to come forward with any tips or surveillance video taken in the area of a homicide outside of a group home.
Someone shot and killed Antonio Shaw, 48, outside of 2606 Badger Lane before 9:45 p.m. Monday. Police held a press conference to ask the public for information Wednesday morning.
"If you were in the area between 9 p.m. and 10 p.m. on May 4, we would invite you to contact us," said town of Madison Police Chief Scott Gregory.
Authorities also asked for video surveillance from the area over the same time period.
Gregory asked anyone who had contact with Shaw in the days before the homicide to contact his department.
Those looking to provide information can call Crime Stoppers at (608) 266-6014.
Authorities do not have anyone in custody for the killing, according to a press release sent Tuesday.
The Dane County Medical Examiner's Office released Shaw's name Tuesday and said he died of "homicidal firearm violence."Police have said Shaw was "brutally shot."
Officers issued a warning in a statement Tuesday afternoon that "we should be concerned and vigilant knowing there is a homicidal suspect at large in our community."
Police believe the killer targeted Shaw.
Coworkers at the group home remembered Shaw fondly. "He was a good-hearted person," colleague Florenzo Cribbs said.
Co-worker Maurice Howard says Shaw's work assignment often involved the care of a deaf and emotionally challenged teenage resident.
"He put himself into his work," Howard said.
