Madison police break up at least four large gatherings over the weekend

MADISON (WKOW) -- While Dane County remains under a local Safer at Home order, Madison police are busy educating residents who are gathering in large groups.

Police broke up at least four gatherings over the past few days, according toa blog post from acting Chief Vic Wahl:

Friday, May 15

CENTRAL DISTRICT: Check Property – 6:22 p.m. Dispatch received a report of a large group of people gathered in the 400 block of W Washington Ave. Officers made contact with the group and educated them on the Safer at Home order. The group dispersed.

MIDTOWN DISTRICT: Check Property – 7:00 p.m. Dispatch received a report of a large group of people gathered in the 4600 block of Verona Rd. Officers made contact with members of the group, who were celebrating a birthday, and educated them on the Safer at Home order. The group dispersed.

Sunday, May 17

CENTRAL DISTRICT: Check Area – 9:19 p.m. Officers responded to a residence reference a loud party. Contact was made at the residence, education was provided about the Safer at Home order. The attendees were cooperative and left the residence. No further action deemed necessary by officers.

Monday, May 18

CENTRAL DISTRICT: Check Area – 1:13 a.m. Officers responded to a residence reference a loud party. Contact was made at the residence, education was provided about the Safer at Home order. The attendees were cooperative and left the residence. No further action deemed necessary by officers.
