Gov. Evers appoints Rep. Chris Taylor to Dane County Circuit Court

MADISON (WKOW) -- Gov. Tony Evers has appointed State Rep. Chris Taylor to be a judge on the Dane County Circuit Court.

Taylor will fill Judge Jill Karofsky's seat. Karofsky was elected to the Wisconsin Supreme Court.

Taylor, a Democrat who represents District 76 in the Madison area, announced in March she would not seek re-election to the state Assembly.

"Chris Taylor has devoted her life to fighting for people's legal rights, having worked as an attorney in private practice, a nonprofit leader and most recently in the Wisconsin Legislature," Governor Evers said in a news release. "This passion for justice and the law will make her an excellent addition to the Dane County Circuit Court."

Taylor has served five terms in the Assembly. Before that, she was the public policy director for Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin and Planned Parenthood Advocates of Wisconsin. She was an attorney in private practice from 1996 until 2003.
