Law enforcement officers Thursday searched the Fort Atkinson home of a man they call a "person of interest" after two shooting deaths and a house fire last week.
Authorities say Kevin P. Anderson, 62, is the man they've been looking for. Anderson's sister, 57-year old Nedra Lemke and her 5-year old husband husband, Jim Lemke, were found dead in the driveway of Anderson and Lemke's father's home in Jefferson County June 16.
A Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation incident command vehicle was stationed Wednesday in the back of the Anderson property on Perry Road. Law enforcement personnel could be seen carrying seized items in bags to their vehicles in the home's driveway.
"Search warrants were obtained to carry this out," Jefferson County Sheriff's Chief Deputy Jeffrey Parker tells 27 News. Parker declined to comment on what was taken from the property by law enforcement personnel.
Authorities were also at the home June 17, hours after the victims's bodies were discovered. A Jefferson County courts official says at least two court-authorized searches in connection to the deaths were carried out before Thursday. The official says a judge sealed the records of those searches.
Law enforcement were called to the home of the father for a burglary, found the Lemkes dead and say a deputy took gunfire from someone inside the house. Moments later, the house was on fire. Anderson and Lemke's father died earlier this month. Friends say the victims were at the home to mow its lawn.
Jefferson County Court records show the father's will was filed five days before the shootings. The will provides equal shares of money to Anderson, Lemke and two other siblings, with Lemke to administer a larger money portion to a second brother.
Law enforcement sources tell 27 News the search for Anderson may intensify Friday, and his status in connection to the shooting and fire incident may change.
