Madison woman arrested in connection fatal shooting NEW

MADISON (WKOW) -- A Madison woman is facing a first-degree reckless homicide charge after police say she shot and killed an ex-boyfriend.

Heaven A. Grant, 22, has been arrested in connection with the killing Wednesday afternoon on East Bluff.

While police were investigating the shooting scene, they say a woman approached detectives and told them she was the one responsible for the gunfire, according to a Madison police department incident report.

Grant told police said she had recently broken up with the victim. He had spotted her driving yesterday and began following her car. She ended up driving into a parking lot on East Bluff, according to police.

He got out of the car and words were exchanged and Grant said she shot the suspect just as he was getting into her vehicle, according to police.

The victim, a 25-year-old Madison man, did not survive.
