Woman’s death likely drug-related; police say body was moved

TOWN OF MADISON (WKOW) -- Investigators say the death of a woman in the Town of Madison appears to be drug-related.

The Town of Madison Police Department says it appears Kiara Lopez died at another location and her body was moved in an attempt to "dispose of her body."

Lopez was found in an area near Nygard Street near Crocus Circle early Wednesday morning. She was discovered by two teenagers who live in the area.

Police are in the process of getting video from businesses and residents in the area to see if it will give them clues as to who was involved in her death.

MADISON (WKOW) -- The Dane County Medical Examiner's Office released the name of a woman found dead in the town of Madison Wednesday.

A press release identified the woman as Kiara M. Lopez, 27, from Madison.

The medical examiner's office did not list a cause of death, instead saying preliminary results from the autopsy are "pending further study and investigation."

Lopez's body was foundaround 6:30 a.m. Wednesday on Nygard Street near Crocus Circle.

The death remains under investigation by the Town of Madison Police Department assisted by the Wisconsin State Crime Lab, Wisconsin Division of Criminal Investigation, and the Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office.
