McFarland man arrested after altercation with woman in parking lot

A 65-year-old McFarland man was arrested following a disturbance this past Thursday in the parking lot of Woodman's on Milwaukee Street.

David G. Lythjohan faces possible charges of battery and disorderly conduct.

A 32-year-old Fitchburg woman told police that Lythjohan opened her car door and struck her in the face after banging on her car window. She responded by kicking the man.

The woman's four children had been dropped off near the grocery by their mother and saw what was happening and went to their mother's aid, according to a Madison police incident report.

Surveillance video shows the children pulling the man away, according to police.

During the struggle, Lythjohan is hit in the head and was later seen by Madison Fire Department paramedics after having difficulty responding to an officer's questions.

Lythjohan told police he was upset with the victim because her car was blocking him from pulling out of a parking stall.

He was trying to pick up his wife who was waiting outside of the grocery.

He denied punching the victim, police say.
