Sun Prairie condo fire displaces families

UPDATE (WKOW) -- Everyone is OK after a fire at a condo complex in Sun Prairie Monday morning, according to the Sun Prairie Fire Department.

Fire Chief Chris Garrison said firefighters were called to the unit at 677 Village Lane just after 8 a.m. for a report of smoke and flames.

When they arrived, there were people in the building that didn't even know flames were spreading in the attic.

"We never want to lose a house but people are more important," said Chief Garrison. "We made sure people were evacuated and we were able to do a coordinated attack in back."

Firefighters put the fire out quickly. No injuries were reported.

Chief Garrison said there is smoke damage inside the condos. The families who live there are displaced until it gets cleaned up.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
