MADISON (WKOW) — IKEA U.S. announced plans to open a store in Madison this fall.
The new IKEA Madison will be located in the Prairie Towne Center at 215 Junction Road. The store will cover about 54,000 square feet and feature a central planning area where IKEA experts can help customers design spaces like kitchens, bedrooms and bathrooms, according to the company.
"At IKEA, we believe that a better everyday life starts at home — and that means making shopping IKEA easy and convenient," said Rob Olson, interim CEO at IKEA U.S.
Customers will have access to more than 5,000 items on display with a curated selection of about 3,000 products available for immediate takeaway. The selection includes home furnishing accessories such as textiles, lighting, accent pieces and more than 130 smaller furniture items.
Larger items such as sofas and beds can be ordered online or in-store with options for low-cost home delivery or free pickup at multiple Madison-area pickup locations. The store will also include a small As-Is section offering gently used products, discontinued items and more affordable furnishings.
"Opening a new location in Madison is part of our continued commitment to reaching customers where they are, making well-designed, affordable home furnishing solutions more accessible and convenient than ever before," Olson said.
The store will feature a Swedish Deli offering a variety of IKEA food favorites like meatballs, plant balls, hot dogs, veggie dogs, plant dogs and cinnamon buns.
Until the store opens, customers in Madison can pick up online orders from two IKEA pickup locations at the University Book Store on State Street and the University Book Store Distribution Center on the Beltline Highway.
A second IKEA location is located in Oak Creek.
