Christian Yelich to miss Home Run Derby with back injury

Reigning NL MVP and MLB's home run leader, Christian Yelich, will miss the Home Run Derby with a back injury. Oakland's Matt Chapman will take his place in the event.

The announcement came Sunday afternoon ahead of the Milwaukee Brewers' game with the Pittsburgh Pirates, which the Brewers lost 6-5 without Yelich taking part in the contest.

Yelich took to Twitter to express disappointment that he'd miss the event. "Always been a dream but unfortunately things don’t always go your way and I’m not physically able," Yelich posted Sunday to social media.

Milwaukee will send five players to the All-Star Game on Tuesday, but at least two of the Brewers' players may not participate: Josh Hader is already a scratch, with fellow Brewers pitcher Brandon Woodruff his replacement, while Yelich is a question mark after pulling out of the Home Run Derby.
