Late Mistake Gives Rays 1-0 Win Over Brewers

The Milwaukee Brewers haven’t scored a run in 21 consecutive innings after they were held scoreless in their 1-0 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays on Friday night. The Brewers have lost three of the first four games of the road trip.

It was a pitchers duel for most of the night in St. Petersburg. Adrian Houser pitched incredibly well against the best team in baseball. Houser went six innings and didn’t allow a run.

Joel Payamps pitched a scoreless seventh inning for Milwaukee. In the eighth inning, Peter Strzelecki ran into some trouble. He hit Luke Raley with a pitch to put him on first base. Raley stole second and the throw by William Contreras got by Willy Adames and into centerfield. Raley was able to make it to third base on the overthrow with just one out in the inning. Francisco Mejia hit a sacrifice fly to left field to score Raley and give the Rays a 1-0 lead heading into the ninth inning.

Despite Brice Turang making it to third base in the top of the ninth inning, the Brewers came up empty and suffered the 1-0 loss. Listen to the Baseball Postgame Show from Friday night, below.
