Lauer Roughed Up in Brewers 8-4 Loss to Rays

The rough road trip continued for the Milwaukee Brewers on Saturday afternoon with a 8-4 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays.

Eric Lauer was moved to the bullpen exactly one week ago. Due to injuries in the starting rotation, Lauer was forced back into a starting role on Saturday with just one bullpen appearance between starts. It did not go well. Lauer allowed six runs in just three innings of work. He allowed three home runs, as the long ball continues to be his bugaboo. The Brewers quickly found themselves down 4-0 entering the third inning.

Owen Miller hit a solo home run in the top of the third inning to put Milwaukee on the board. It ended a scoreless streak of 23 innings for the Brewers.

In the top of the fourth inning, Brian Anderson hit a two-run home run to cut the deficit to 4-3. However, Lauer ran into trouble in the bottom of the third inning and the Rays took a 6-3 lead. Tampa didn't look back and beat the Brewers 8-4. Listen to the postgame show from Saturday below.

Milwaukee is 24-21. They will try to avoid the sweep at the hands of the Rays on Sunday afternoon at 12:40pm. Freddy Peralta is scheduled to start for Milwaukee. Listen to the Baseball Postgame Show with Tim Allen after the game on 97.3 The Game in Milwaukee and the iHeart Radio App.
