Willy Adames Struck By Foul Ball in Brewers 15-1 Loss to Giants

Scary moments ensued at American Family Field on Friday night that made the game result seem secondary. The Milwaukee Brewers did lose 15-1 to the San Francisco Giants, but that wasn't the headline.

Brewers SS Willy Adames was struck by a foul ball in the bottom of the second inning while sitting on the top bench of the dugout. The ball was hit by right-handed batter Brian Anderson. Play was stopped while trainers tended to Adames on the dugout bench. Brewers Manager Craig Counsell said after the game that Willy Adames was alert and responsive the entire night, but was taken to the hospital for further evaluation. He has no fractures, but he'll be placed on the injured list. Adames will remain in the hospital overnight, but Counsell anticipates he will be released in the morning.

In the top of the third inning, the Brewers were clearly shaken by what happened. Especially Freddy Peralta, who surrendered seven runs in the inning. Only two of those runs were earned runs because two errors were made by the Brewers defense. The Giants had a 10-1 lead heading into the bottom of the third inning.

The Giants tacked on five more runs, all against Ethan Small. Small had been called up from Nashville just hours before the game.

San Francisco won 15-1. The third game of the series will be played on Saturday afternoon at 3:10pm. Listen to the Baseball Postgame Show with Tim Allen after the game on 97.3 The Game in Milwaukee.
