Nancy Pelosi Debates Nancy Pelosi on Impeachment

Nancy Pelosi is singing a dramatically different tune about presidential impeachment than the one she sang in 1998. So Dan O'Donnell moderated a debate between the two!

Dan: Hello and welcome to tonight’s debate on impeachment between Nancy Pelosi…and Nancy Pelosi. I’m Dan O’Donnell your moderator. Ms. Pelosi, we’ll begin with you. Why should the President be impeached?

Pelosi (2019): The actions of the Trump presidency revealed dishonorable fact of the President’s betrayal of his oath of office, betrayal of our national security and betrayal of the integrity of our elections.

Dan: Ms. Pelosi, your response?

Pelosi (1998): Today the Republican majority is not charging the President with fairness, but impeaching him with vengeance.

Dan: Ms. Pelosi, is that true?

Pelosi (2019): The President must be held accountable. No one is above the law.

Dan: This is correct, Ms. Pelosi. Why shouldn’t the president be investigated?

Pelosi (1998): In this investigation of the President, fundamental principles which Americans hold dear — privacy, fairness, checks and balances — have been seriously violated.

Dan: Your response, Ms. Pelosi?

Pelosi (2019): The actions taken to date by the President have seriously violated the Constitution, especially when the President says "Article II says I can do whatever I want."

Dan: A fair point, Ms. Pelosi. Ms. Pelosi, how do you respond?

Pelosi (1998): We are here — we are here today because the Republicans in the House are paralyzed with hatred of President Clinton. And until the Republicans free themselves of this hatred, our country will suffer.

Dan: Powerful words Ms. Pelosi. Nancy Pelosi, Nancy Pelosi, thank you for taking part in tonight’s impeachment debate. I’m Dan O’Donnell, your moderator saying thank you for watching. Good night.
