Conservative Optimism vs. Liberal Pessimism Summed Up in Two Speeches

The contrast between Republican Florida Governor Ron De Santis' State of the State speech and Democratic Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers' was downright stunning.

It also perfectly captured the fundamental difference in conservatism and liberalism: Conservatism at its heart is eternally optimistic about the future and the power of the individual, while liberalism is forever pessimistic about the state of the world and the inability of individuals to thrive (or even survive) without government help.
